Invitation to the graduation exhibition of the Kunsthochschule

From December 13 to 17, 2023, the final exhibition of the graduates of the Kunsthochschule Kassel will take place in the documenta Halle. This year's title is Particles / Exams / Tides.

The exhibition brings together graduation works from the fields of fine arts, visual communication and product design. They cover a broad conceptual and creative spectrum, ranging from painting, sculpture and film to design works and multimedia installations.

The graduate exhibition has something ambivalent about it. As fixed as the annual date might be in the city’s cultural calendar, the exhibition also runs counter to everyday life at the Hochschule. Like the ebb and flow of the tide, EXAMEN marks a cycle with unforeseen dimensions. For the graduates it marks the symbolic end of their studies and a metamorphosis. There is a similarity to particles in quantum physics, simultaneously behaving as particles and as waves whose potential is still unexplored.

The exhibition is curated by documenta Institut research associate Mateo Chacón Pino. Commenting on his role, he says: "I am delighted to be working with the Kunsthochschule. With the exhibition, I would like to take a look at the artistic and creative careers of the graduates and think of the format of the final exhibition as a transition from training to professional practice. The participating artists and designers will help shape the cultural future of the city of Kassel, Germany and beyond."
