Reflections on the development of drawing at Museum unter Tage Bochum

The recently published catalog Zeichnung. Idee – Geste – Raum is dedicated to the development of drawing in art since early modernism. It also includes several works by the artist Lada Nakonechna, who also works as a research assistant at the documenta Institut.

Drawing is one of the most elementary forms of artistic expression. With its enormous potential for self-reflection, it continues to surprise us today with ever-new developments. Particularly in modern and contemporary art, alongside traditional approaches, there are countless exploratory interrogations of the medium, crossovers, as well as interactions and interrelationships with other categories, whether by systematically questioning the underlying criteria or by incorporating new techniques and materials. The exhibition and publication highlight the most significant developments since early Modernism.

This catalog is published in conjunction with the exhibition “Drawing. Idea - Gesture - Space” by the Situation Kunst Stiftung at the Museum unter Tage, Bochum. (November 7, 2024 to April 27, 2025)

On Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 6 pm Lada Nakonechna will give a lecture in the context of the exhibition.
