On September 2, 2023, the exhibition RADICAL SYMBIOSIS: THE SOCIAL LIFE OF MICROBES opened at the Radius Center for Contemporary Art and Ecology in Delft.
The documenta Institute is pleased that Mateo Chacón Pino, a scientific fellow of the Institute, has contributed to the realization of the exhibition through his role as curator together with Àngels Miralda.
RADICAL SYMBIOSIS brings together a group of artists working with bacteria, yeasts and microbes. The three chapters THE INVISIBLE WORLD AROUND AND WITHIN US, PETRI DISH CULTURES and AN INTIMATE RELATION deal with the question of what lessons can be learned from microbial life for human existence on earth.
Participating artists are: Elina Alekseeva, Johanna Bruckner, Penelope Cain, Wim van Egmond, Lizan Freijsen, Escuela de Garaje, Aslı Hatipoğlu, Marit Mihklepp, Natalia Sorzano
