The documenta Institute is pleased to announce that Heinz Bude will remain at the Institute as founding director until the end of 2023.

He sees the extension of his term of office as an opportunity to establish the research institute: "I see the extension of my contract primarily as a mandate to ensure that the documenta Institute is given the necessary form and to further expand research at the institute. The goal is clear: as an independent research institution, the documenta Institute should become a flagship for Kassel."

Heinz Bude stands for a contemporary-diagnostic open-minded science and has come to the fore with contributions on the problems of social division, regional desolation and global social dislocation. He was awarded the 2016 German Sociological Association Prize for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Public Effectiveness in Sociology. He has taught macro sociology at the University of Kassel since 2000.
