The summerschool „Histories of Resistance: Remembering and Archiving Political and Environmental Conflicts“ took place from September 4 to September 15 2023 in Bogotá, Colombia. Documenta professor Liliana Gómez and her team at the chair “Art and Society” led the cooperation of the documenta institute with University of Kassel, Universidad del Rosario, Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos (CELA) and CAPAZ – German-Colombian Peace Institute. The program attracted 30 early career researcher and artists for a transdisciplinary exchange in Bogotá.
The program included conversation with established academics and renowned artists, such as Beatriz González and Fernando Arias, as well as visits to prominent institutions of Bogotá, such as the Archivo General de la Nación and the Centro de Memoria, Paz y Reconciliación. Additionally, a public program with significant researchers and artists was conceived at the Museo Nacional de Colombia, the Universidad del Rosario and La Casa de la Paz/La Trocha. The lecture by Michael Taussig, a highly innovative and distinguished anthropologist and author, proved him to be a highlight as one of the most profiled socially engaged voices in cultural anthropology.
